Webinar Recap - Using 2D Hydraulic Models to Manage Flood Risk in New Development

January 30, 2024
Susanna Pho, CFM

Our latest webinar featured Stokka Brown, Principal, Water Resources Engineering Practice Lead at CSRS, who shared details about Central, Louisiana’s Offsite Drainage Assessment Program.

Adopted by the City of Central's City Council in April 2021, the Offsite Drainage Assessment (ODA) program uses 2D hydraulic models to conduct a comprehensive drainage impact analyses of proposed land development. Any proposed developments within a specific zone are required to undergo an ODA by the City. The ODA ensures new development does not increase flood risk for neighboring properties as well as the rest of the watershed.
