Webinar Recap: Getting Started with the new Elevation Certificate
Elevation Certificates (ECs) are central documents in floodplain management and they are updated periodically to ensure that they are capturing the most relevant information. Each time a new Elevation Certificate is published, surveyors, floodplain managers, and insurance agents have to act quickly to understand the parameters of the new document, since the expectation is that it should be used immediately.
The latest Elevation Certificate was just approved for use until June 2026! We hosted a webinar with Del Schwalls, PE, CFM, President of Schwalls Consulting, to help communities understand the updates.
Del walked through the key changes in the new EC, including flood opening documentation, LiMWA (Limit of Moderate Wave Action), Section E/F vs. Section H/I distinctions, and the role of Section G for local officials. He also shared his EC Comparison Document (available to download here) that compares the two documents directly.
At the end of the webinar, we did a brief demonstration of Forerunner's EC features. Our Product Manager, Lucy Randl, explained how Forerunner can help streamline EC management and EC verification in annual reviews.
